3.1 stTON

stTON is an ERC-20 equivalent of a staked Toncoin developed by the pTON.fi team. stTON tokens are minted whenever a user stakes TON with a 1:1 ratio, meaning that at any time 1 stTON can be unstaked to receive 1 TON. stTON tokens are burnt during unstaking.

The amount of stTONs is always equal to the amount of TONs staked through pTON.fi. stTON balances are updated every day after oracle informs of the changes in pricing. This means that as node rewards are accrued, stTON amount in your wallet grows at node annual percentage rate day by day. It also means that the total stTON supply is always equal to the amount of TON staked + rewards - processing fees.

stTON as a ERC-20 version of staked TON has a whole variety of fundamental potential use cases. Some of them are currently being developed by the pTON.fi team.

3.2 pTON

Since the amount of stTON on wallet balance changes daily, based on the received staking rewards it can’t be used in some DeFi protocols which do not support this kind of balance mechanism for tokens.

pTON token is a ERC-20 token developed specifically for DeFi means. Basically, it is a wrapped version of stTON. Its supply is not affected by the pTON.fi staking rewards, however its price in terms of stTON is destined to slowly grow over time to reflect the stTON rewards.

At the launch event the staking and wrapping ratios are:

1 TON = 1 stTON (does not change over time)

1 stTON = 1 pTON (grows over time in favor of pTON to reflect staking rewards)

e.g. after a full year of 8% APR, 1 stTON will still be equal to 1 TON, however 1 pTON will be equal to 1.08 stTON.

Wrapping stTON into pTON allows user to explore different DeFi options such as DEXes or Lending protocols, e.g. Tonpound where it can be used as collateral for receiving additional yield or borrowing other assets.
